For those of us of a certain age, we remember life before the Internet. It may be hard to remember, but the actual integration of the web into our every day lives took a while to complete. I got my first school email address in 1995, even though I was using an internal messaging system a few years befoe that. The time between my first email address and my first personal email address was almost four years. I'm telling you, it took a while before the need and infrastructure were ready for people to adopt new technologies we now take for granted. The AI revolution is moving much faster. The infrastructure is already in place. We don't have to wait for things to be built out. The access technology will improve, but anyone who wants to use genAI technology can use it now. By the way, I'm glad I'm seeing more people use the term genAI. It's much catchier than generative AI. We already see models moving up the dates when AI will achieve certain benchmarks. But this means genAIs' impact on knowledge workers will arrive earlier than predicted, too. Last week I linked to my thoughts on a recent Business Insider article on AI's impact on jobs. There were so many good stats in there that I had to make an infographic so you can easily see how AI could impact your work.
